First Look! Excerpt from Telvant, Sequel to Vorisin

Telvant, book 2 of the Vo series, is still a long ways from being ready. But with book 1 already done and many of you chomping at the bit for more Vorisin goodness, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give you a little sneak peek at what’s to come. So, without further adieu, here’s a snippet from the first half of Telvant! Scroll to the bottom for a first look at the cover, too.

(This is still mid-edit, so there may be some notes and corrections left in the text. Sorry about that!)

Telvant felt the powerful rumble of the motor jet cycle underneath him as the powerful engine jets propelled him down the empty desert highway. He had a head start, but he knew his evil twin from the other dimension wouldn’t be far behind. As the tiny diner appeared in the distance, a miniscule spec at first, he felt the familiar grip of his weapon holstered at his side. If they ever caught up with him, they’d feel the wrath of a true Vozhi master.

He pulled into the dusty parking space, parking his motor jet cycle lengthwise to block the only other empty spot. He recognized the red convertible in the spot next to him instantly. Good. They’re already here.

Whipping the sunglasses off of his face, he tucked them into his leather jacket and made his way inside. The place was cramped, half the seats pressed up against the counter while a row of three booths lined the window. A waitress in a pink shirt gave him the finger as the door slammed behind him. Nice place.

As his eyes fell on the two figures seated at the booth, he whipped off his sunglasses. “Sorry I’m late,” he said, taking his spot next to Virlel.

The man at the other side of the table had to be about eight feet tall, with arms literally as thick as Telvant’s chest and leaves and crap sprouting out of his hair. His face was rough and metallic, but when he gave that trademark grin, there was only one person it could be.

“Will, is that really you?” Telvant asked, whipping off his sunglasses in disbelief.

Will tilted his head back and gave a howl of confirmation. It really is him!

“A lot happened since Chicago,” Virlel said. She was still in the SWAT gear from the previous week, and she hadn’t even bothered to wash out the blood splatters. She had taken the time to clean up her hair, however, and her Mohawk was freshly waxed. Telvant whipped off his sunglasses to admire the majestic hair-spikes that sat atop her like some sort of hairy crown. “I don’t know where to begin.”

“There’s no time,” Telvant said. As if on cue, a brick a burning barrel a dump truck filled with TNT came flying through the window, sending glass and drywall shooting through the air like shrapnel. Telvant whipped off his sunglasses. “They’re here.”

In one deft motion, he drew the twin shotguns off his back. It’s now or never, he told himself, gritting his teeth like a madman. Let’s see if all that training paid off after all.

He whipped off his sunglasses.

“Come and get me, you twelve-eyed freaks!”
